Mediaplanet spoke with Torri Webster, social media influencer, graduate of Ryerson University’s Creative Industries program, and Life with Boys actress, about leveraging education for greater career growth.
Mediaplanet: What advice do you have for aspiring young professionals and students?
Torri Webster: Ask yourself simple questions about what you’re interested in before picking a program to make sure you get the most out of your education. What are you passionate about and would like to be an advocate for? What is your end goal? What do you want to do by the time you graduate?
What tips would you give new students?
Try to find a balance between school life and your social life. School can be overwhelming, so it’s important you always make time for your loved ones and, most importantly, yourself.
What is the most important thing to consider when it comes to making a decision about your education?
When it came to deciding which program was best for me, I learnt that going where the industry is going was my best bet!
What steps did you take in making your decision of where to go and what program to take?
I met with a specialist and a counsellor to get some outside help with understanding what programs actually existed. Your career path will constantly change, so it’s good to do your research. I also did a personality test that presented me with several options across Canada and helped me uncover my interests and what career paths were out there!
